Black Gymnasts in History 2018: Our Third Annual Tribute

“Those who have no record of what their forebears have accomplished lose the inspiration which comes from the teaching of biography and history.”
– Carter G. Woodson

On the first day of Black History Month 2018, I am inspired by the quote above from Carter G Woodson, who is frequently recognized as the Father of Black History. Now in our third year, the WHGF Black Gymnasts in History retrospective allows me the time to stop and reflect. Although many of the posts stay fairly consistent each year, I along with Pam Majumdar, WHGF’s social media manager, try to add something new.

This year, look for:

– More videos, including a day highlighting the routines of black gymnasts that were viral sensations!
– What’s happening in the world of reigning Olympic champion Simone Biles, including the upcoming broadcast of her biopic The Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar on Lifetime
– Updates on superstar gymnast Dominique Dawes, who gave birth to twins just a few days ago!
And more.

It will be a month of joy and reflection, appreciation and recognition.

Thank you for following along!
